<![CDATA[Jessie Blackmer - News]]>Tue, 08 Mar 2016 18:11:40 -0800Weebly<![CDATA[Winding down at Wheaton]]>Sat, 07 Jul 2012 01:25:40 GMThttp://www.jessieblackmer.com/news/winding-down-at-wheatonWe have less than 2 weeks left at here at Wheaton and the work has continued to develop. I have made a couple updates to the Bio Digester project, adding better pictures and a new variation on the design.

I have also been working on yeast traps and insect traps.

Though things are about to finish up here Wheaton they are ramping up in general as I prepare for ArtPrize Grand Rapids. I will be working with the curatorial group Adortation My performance and installation will be called Special Species.

In other news I have been Awarded an Emerging Artists Residency at Pilchuck Glass School this fall. I will be continuing my work in animation and sound editing. More information on this project as it develops will be on my Autobiographical Animation page under Work in Progress.

Basically things are going very well for me. I am busy in a good way and at the end of EAiRs I will be moving back to the Pacific North West. I have missed the rain.

<![CDATA[At Wheaton!]]>Mon, 23 Apr 2012 16:31:05 GMThttp://www.jessieblackmer.com/news/at-wheatonAll moved in to my studio space and starting to get the hang of things around here.
Working on some new things and finishing some long waiting experiments and prototypes, including a few diseased vessels (in the pic below) to continue explorations in Architectural Infections.
I am also working on continuing my work on traps. I have two more designs for live Mousetraps. I am also starting work on insect and yeast traps.
Over the past few months I have also become interested in bio methane production and how it could be made and utilized by the individual artist. So I am doing some experimentation on the feasibility of a sustainable glass practice. You can see updates of the process here.
